Missing Engine Case Date?

I am sure I am over reacting or missing something but I cannot locate the engine block casting date. I have checked all the places that I can think of and I simply cannot find it. I have checked the entire length side to side near the transmission mount and near the oil filter boss. Other than the 3970010 the only characters there are a K and an 8 in about the same sized font as the casting code. Both are sort of off by themselves.

Is there someplace that I am missing? I cannot fathom that they made an exception for this one engine and put it someplace else or omitted it altogether. I am trying to document the originality of the whole truck and this piece is sort of important.

Block: 3970010
Build Info: K0111TDJ (Ontario, Jan 11, 1972)
Truck Build: January 1972
TH 350: Y2A 20D (72 model year, January 20th, day shift)
Alternator: 2A19 (Jan 19, 1972)

Re: Missing Engine Case Date?

your casting date will be on the passenger side rear between the rear of the cyl. head deck and trans mounting surface. If the engine is not out of the truck it is a bear to get a good look at it!!! It is a CASTING number, depending on the mold/day/employees mental status. the readability can vary!
