how to deactivate stolen key fob? 2001 silverado

My brother in law had his keys and fob stolen for his 2001 silverado. We put in new locks and ignition keys, but he wants to deactivate the fob so the thief can't unlock his doors. How can we do this? Thanks

Reprogram the existing fob, and any new one you may have gotten. This should get the stolen one out of the system.

There is actually 4 slots for remotes in the memory. You can erase them if you have access to a Tech2.

Reprogramming won't clear out the old slots.
