Re: How about some pics of 47-59

Recent pics of my 58 Apache. 406 small block, vortec heads, comp cam, edelbrock rpm intake, holley 650 avenger carb, msd 6al, 700r4, 57 chevy car rear end housing with 3.36 gear, 78 camaro clip, vintage air, 70 van tilt column. I have a stock radiator with shroud and a 7 blade clutch fan and it runs cool here in the 100 degree days in Texas.

Oohhh, very very nice.

Do you mind telling me WHICH Comp Cam grind you went with? I just have a little 283 with 350TH tranny but an Edelbrock dual plane manifold, Pertronix ignition, headers etc. and it doesn't provide enough vacuum to run a vacuum booster for power brakes but I see your does, presumably.

Here is a link to the cam in my truck on youtube.

I have 15 inches of vacuum but you do have a smaller engine. My brakes work great and it idles in gear with a stock convertor. It also works fine with stock valve springs because of the lift. But if you don't like the idle you can go smaller. I run the High Energy 268H Hydraulic Flat Tappet Camshaft Only
Lift: .454''
Duration: 268°
RPM Range: 1500-5500
Jegs 12-210-2
The smaller cam is the 260 degree 440 lift but pretty well idles smooth.

Thanks for the info. Sorry I took forever to remember to come back to this thread. Your truck sounds GREAT. What exhaust are you running? Pipe size and mufflers?

I have a buddy in South Carolina who owns his own iron works company and always said he'd like to get an old school shop truck. Give him a buzz http://www.creativeironworks.net/ ryan@creativeironworks.net
