help identifying A/C part 1972 k20
I am adding factory ac to a non ac cab. I'm to the point of installing the fresh air flapper in the cowl. I have the plastic bushing piece for the engine aide, but what is used on the glove box side? I know there is a pre-marked spot to drill for it, but what sort of bushing goes in there? And what size hole? Looking at my 72/c30 ramp truck it looks like a nut, but if you try and screw it out it is never ending. Any help is greatly appreciated. I pictured the flapper I was talking about.

It also requires a plastic piece. The piece basically looks like a "T" and on the firewall side is flat and has a blind hole in it. The main piece that fits through the hole in the firewall through the hole that you will drill is threaded and secured in place with a plastic nut inside the cab. When you install the flapper you insert the spring loaded pin into the blind hole in the top of the "T". You may have to get the piece from one of the guys on the board here. I don't recall ever seeing that piece for sale in the normal truck parts places although you may want to look again. Do yourself a favor when you drill the hole and just hit the dimple inside the cab with a grinder and your pilot hole is already started then punch out the hole with a drill. I don't recall the size of the hole but I can look later when I get home and send you a picture. In a pinch you could simply get a small bolt and drill a hole in the center of it just big enough to allow the spring loaded pin to seat and rotate easily.

I have the ac stuff apart on my burb right now.When i get to work ill check it out.I think i know what part you need.I cant figure out what its called though.

My cab was originally an A/C cab but the plastic bushing was broken and i was unable to find a good one. The plastic becomes brittle so trying to remove one usually ends up with another broken one. So I made up a bushing. You can see what I did in post# 227 of my build thread. Gary
