Removing "Custom" Moldings?

How the heck do you get the moldings off without messing them up? Is there a trick to getting the to the clips and getting them to release? Can someone with experience please educate me on this?

I recently used two thin flexible putty knives. One 3" against the body to protect the paint, another 1-1/2" on top of the 3" to pry the trim outward. Also flood the clip/hole area with WD-40 so the spring clips let go easier. Easy does it now!

EDIT: The trim I pulled was narrow fleetside door/side trim, NOT suburban trim. I assume the clips are similar, but I have no actual experience with the Sub trim, sorry.

Re: Removing "Custom" Moldings?

if you are talking about the ones down the side that are about 3 inches wide then you need to see where the clips are and push the clip on one side to make it turn its flat and goes from the top to the bottom so push on the top to the left or right and it will pop out the bottom

Re: Removing "Custom" Moldings?

I did mine recently.

Just use plastic pry tools, or putty knive

Slide along under trim, and twist they pull pop right out
