60-66 disc brake spindle/rotor combo

I'm in the process of installing disc brakes onto my 66 c10 long bed. Now I have a friend that said he used 1972 spindles with the 72 calipers and a 1991 c2500 six lug rotor on his 1965 c10. I wasnt there to watch the install nor have seen the completed work. Would this rotor even fit on the 72 spindle? If so what bearings would I use? I want to keep my six lug, 15x8 truck rallys for sure.

Thanks for all help.

Re: 60-66 disc brake spindle/rotor combo

While the '88-'98 light duty C2500 6 lug rotors will physically fit the '71-'87 HD spindles, the calipers and pads will not line up with the rotor. There has been previous discussion here on the forum on how to utilize those factory 6 lug rotors and those that have recently tried it, have had camber issues. At this point, if you want 6 lug rotors, your best bet is to use the aftermarket 6 lug rotors with the '71-'87 HD spindles.

Thank you for the information. Which aftermarket rotor would you recommend for the '71-87 HD spindle? Also if there is a forum which I have yet to find that discusses using a '71-87 HD spindle, please let me know. My truck had a bad drum wheel hub so driving it was scary to say the least. Thank you again for the information.

Re: 60-66 disc brake spindle/rotor combo

Best place to get the rotors is Summit. Here is a link tot he FAQ setion at the top of this section.http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=646002 Also the Suspension section has this type of question in it also. I have two trucks with the 73-87 complete swap in them and used the aftermarket 6 lug 1 1/4 rotors with great results.

Re: 60-66 disc brake spindle/rotor combo

There is also NO NEED to use 71-72 spinldes.
This will require many other changes.
(balljoints, tie rods, centerlink, etc)
Use 63-70 standard or drop spindles for disc brake conversions.
They are the same price and are a DIRECT BOLT-ON.
All manufacturers make them.
