They wouldn't let me put a Blazer on one last summer because of weight.

Width was OK though.

I told them to F. O. and used a buddy's trailer instead.

I used one to get my suburban home and it really didn't fit. The suburban was to wide. We traveled about three hours to find this out. We straped it down pretty tight. We checked it every ten minutes or so and I told myself then I would not try this again.

U-Haul trailer

I fit my C-10 6'stepside on a Uhaul trailer. Drove over a 100 miles with it and had no problems.

I think U Haul uses Demco Tow Dollies. They are great tow dollies, but I think U Haul buys the second largest one. That would be a tight fit. I have the largest one and our trucks fit fine.

How far you hauling it? Have you considered a tow bar? You can own one for 100 bucks from wall mart.

Uhaul wont let you use the dolly to do the job bthey insist the dolly isnt wide enough. Ive hauled an 81 3/4 ton on a tow dolly without a problem. what you need to do is once you get it on the dolly ( and it is tight but it does fit) is to let the air out of the front tires so you can strap it down well then make sure you use the chains to hold the chassis in place. its not pretty but it works and by the way i towed about 300 miles that way

Thanks guys..I'm only going about 30 Miles. Guess I will give it a shot. I will post some pics of it when I get her home. Its a 69 GMC 396/th400/AC/PS/PB/Posi. Lots of options, but needs the usual rust repair and a bedside. Thanks again guys...Larry

you might have to tell them you are pulling something smaller with something bigger or they will tell you no.

Not exactly legal in larger metropolitan areas. But swell in areas that matter, ask me how I know.

I used a tow bar to tow a 71 from Kansas but it didn't track at all.
I found out later it was because I didn't had an engine in it for weight in the front. It would probably tracked good if there was more weight in the front.

Half way back to NC and a jack knife later I went too u-haul and got a dolly but I told them I was pulling an S-10. But I was using a crummy F%#D explorer anyway, too lite for c-10 they say.

It was a tight fit and add extra straps and had no problems at all going over the mountains.

Tow dolly's

We pulled a 4x4 blazer from western KY to souther Indiana with my dolly, BUTT, the issue with most dolly's is that a 4x4 with ralley's is wider then a 2x4 truck in the front!!!!!!!!
If we towed it backwards, it might have worked a little better. We put on some stock wheels/tires and it fit between the fenders', but just fit with not much room to spare. We needed better tie down straps and once when breaking the blazer jumped forward of the dolly!!! Yikes!!
Dolly's are great for towing but are terrible for trying to back up--don't bother as it is a mess. I would tend to do it again if I had to but---now have better straps, will carry extra gas to allow for a smooth refuel at my leisure, and will chain the vehicle to the dolly as a precaution. I would also consider a tow hitch before the dolly. I have a flat bed that is capable but it would really need working brakes before loading 4,000+ lbs on it and towing it anywhere~~~.

dont tell them your using to tow anything.

Tell them you where hired to do a kids birthday party and you thought it would be a cool idea to pull the kids around in it....maybe take it on the highway and see who can hang on the longest......dont fall for the old "wait so we can check your credit" just run out before the cops get there:p
