burb rear quarter panels

I've noticed that our reproduction parts suppliers now have a fleetside shortbed body panel. Any idea if the bulk of the panel can be used on our suburbans? Is the wheel opening the same shape? I have a lot of the lower rust and around the wheel.

Re: burb rear quarter panels

the lower 1/2 could be used for a patch panel, the 1/2 ton panels and the burbs used the same wheel opening as the short bed truck.

you would still need to do fabrication at the rear where the sub is all rounded by the bumper.

if the bed side is built correct the lower 1/2 should be spot welded to the top, the top 1/2 should be a thicker gauge metal, but you would not need that piece.

the inside of the wheel well lip, and the lower portion of the 1/4 panel on the sub is thicker (not trimmed down as much as a truck) where it welds to the inner body structure. this is another portion where you might need to fabricate.

Re: burb rear quarter panels

Have a look at the lower box rear repair panels for 73-87 chev pickups. I used some of that to get the rounded part at the back by the bumper. Sorry no pics my panel is at a friends acreage. Hope this helps. Gord
