Found a 70 multi purpose pass vehicle...

Or better known as a blazer. Another pretty rusty find with a bad engine. First time i have seen the trans case shift pattern on the floor with the pictured sticker on the glovebox door in person.
Well, saved another from sinking into the earth... Enjoy.

Good for you. I always feel like I "saved another trucks life" when I add another to the herd. You probably saved that trucks life.

I have never seen a shift boot ring like that before. And I'm not so sure I have ever seen that 4x4 sticker either. Nice save

Re: Found a 70 multi purpose pass vehicle...

That shifter boot ring is 69/70 only. The knob on 69/70 does not have the pattern on it like 71/72 either.

Re: Found a 70 multi purpose pass vehicle...

I can't recall the Dana20 pattern, but thought those only came behind 3spd in the MPV . I remember when there were only car or truck plates. Trucks needed no inspection, so people (ok, hippies) would remove the seats from a window van and get registration for a truck. Then they started the MPV tags because of that and the increasing number of sport utility and van type vehicles being sold. The SUV term didn't start till the '90s IIRC

Re: Found a 70 multi purpose pass vehicle...

I believe that is a J-patern Dana 20. Seen those on Early Broncos, but never on a Blazer. All the Dana 20 cases I've seen on Blazers have had the straight shift patern.

Or perhaps it is a rockwell case. Someone here will know for sure.

Re: Found a 70 multi purpose pass vehicle...

I've only seen one early Blazer with a 4 speed and that one had a Dana 20. It seems that 3 speeds and TH350s were much more popular in the Blazers.

Re: Found a 70 multi purpose pass vehicle...

So can we assume it is still original as far as the shifter and t case? I can try to get more pics if that will help.

Re: Found a 70 multi purpose pass vehicle...

I'd assume it is, but pull it up from the hump and see if any other holes are there for the other type of boot & ring.

All the K/5s I have seen, and I've seen plenty, had the NP205, except for 3spds. I think the only '69 that got a NP205 was an automatic. That's not the Rockwell pattern for sure.
