Hello from Ohio with a 65 Suburban

Craigslist is the devil. Let me just say that.

It led me to find and buy a 65 Suburban that made it's way to Ohio from Oregon towing a big UHaul trailer full of possessions and ended up on Craigslist when the owner needed a worktruck. I've owned a number of 60-66 C-10's over the years from various places south and west and a 72 3 door Suburban from a firehouse down in Tennessee, but never a pre 67 Suburban.

This one is relatively straight from what I can see but it will need some floor pans and other love via the LMC catalog and some major work on one badly placed dent. However, I haven't seen one of these in Ohio for years and I've always wanted one. The biggest reasons I couldn't let it go was a factory 4 speed on the floor (granny first + 3) and the fact that it was originally dark green, I believe it is GM 99-77161.

It has such oddities as a 1960 grille because the current owner liked it better than the original 65 design and a 350 rather than whatever was in there from the factory so it will never be a show truck but hopefully over time it will be a fun and unique driver.

So here we go!

Re: Hello from Ohio with a 65 Suburban

welcome! The 60 grill is kinda sought after cuz you can use regular high\lo beams on the outside and fogs on the inside, gives a real custom look if your into that.

I would love a suburban but where I am they are either death traps or show pieces, which put them way out of my reach.

Good luck with your new family member!

Oh and your much better off going with Top Banana for your body parts\patches. great quality!
