Longbed to shortbed on a 99-06?
Hello all
I've been thinking of this lately. I would like to have a 99-06 regular cab shortbed 2wd. These are hard to find and its even harder to find one in good shape. I see more regular cab longbeds though. Since folks are shortening the old trucks I was wondering if anyone here has a longbed to shortbed conversion on a 99-06. If you have done this, do you have photos and measurements? I don't know if I'm doing this for sure but I was just wondering if anyone else has done it. Thank you |

Re: Longbed to shortbed on a 99-06?
You could find someone who builds a lot of those trucks and bet a frame from them that is already the right wheelbase. I have several laying about and I'm sure some one who builds them would too close to where you are. I have several 68-72's that I'm making short but I'm changing the frame and beds instead of cutting one down but that is my preferred method. That and short rolling frames seem to pop up when I need them to.
You need to be aware of the differences of the trucks when you start that frame swap they will all fit but there are differences in the 99-02 and the 03-07's, mainly the evap mounting location the front brake sizes and the bumper brackets They can be replaced but are expensive to do so if you have the wrong year model. |

I've wondered the same thing in the past but got lucky and found a 05 Regular cab short box WT model. I'd like to try the short box conversion on my next project though.

Wow JRE, your truck looks great! I always liked the "municipal orange" look on trucks.
