Backyard find 72' GMC
Well, the body is done but it is a 4x4! Got more looks than I ever have towing this thing home.
UPDATE at bottom.

Hey, I think I saw a straight panel....
...nope, never mind. Still, lots of possibilities. |

Re: Backyard find 72' GMC
Obviously, someone in the past has had fun bouncing that truck off of trees in a path through the woods. Or the guys girlfriend had a really good time with a ball bat!

Re: Backyard find 72' GMC
The tailgate and drivers door are the only straight thing on it! I'm still amazed the tailgate is straight!

Re: Backyard find 72' GMC
The truck can definitely be saved and it will be worth saving it. I've saved a 87 Turbo Regal once. I bought it for $2500 and sold it for $14,500.

Re: Backyard find 72' GMC
I found out today that I am the second owner of this truck. And yes the frame will be saved but the body,it's done. I'm working on getting a 69' GMC 2wd for the body to put on this frame.

Re: Backyard find 72' GMC
Great Find ! Hope you enjoy it ! Here is a photo of the one I found last summer. I was stopped about a dozen times by people asking questions about its history, the body was toast, but the frame and running gear will be used again. sorry can't turn photo ?

Re: Backyard find 72' GMC
Good find. And enough said about the customized sheet metal.
My recent purchase on my trailer is a tad short on width to haul a 4X4. Mine is only 6.3. Your trailer must be 6.8? 4X4 I measured required 6.6 I think.

Re: Backyard find 72' GMC (will live on, with a 69' C30)
UPDATE! So I now have my hands on a 69' Chevy C30 that will merge with this one to become one. This will be a SLOW build but I am going to do it on a VERY tight budget, as in sell, trade my plethora of parts and spend as little as I can on it. Already have most of what I need from this wrecked 72' and I will start cutting it up next summer. So I should have some parts/patches from the cab I will put on the parts board then. Not sure if I'll just put the C30's body on this frame or make the C30 frame 4wheel. It'll depend on if the 72's frame is bent or not. I will post some pics of "THE BEAST" soon!

Re: Backyard find 72' GMC
Glad to see it will be rescued. Being in AZ. I cant see it being too difficult to find a good shell to use on the frame

Re: Backyard find 72' GMC
Either those side markers survived what ruined the fender all around them, or they were replaced so the truck could continue to drive on the road?

Re: Backyard find 72' GMC
It's funny you say that I had thought the same thing. I think they actually survived although some are cracked.

Here is a picture of the Flatbed that will become 4 wheel drive thanks to this wrecked truck. I'll start a build thread when I get going on it.
