Bed Replacement

Had an unfortunate incident this weekend with a fencepost and my fender on my dually. So after searching thru CL trying to find the unatainable I was wondering if anyone has used a newer model bed as a replacement bed since there seems to be lots of them out there. Curious what it might look like. Pics if you got em. Thanks,

Re: Bed Replacement

It looks ugly and HORRIBLY disproportionate.

Do not ruin the classic lines of these trucks with said products. Its just as blasphemous as people putting 88-98 boxes on 73-87 trucks and earlier.

Im not a fan of the 88-up stepsides on a 67-72 but Still curious what a newer dually bed would look like on a 73-87 dually.

You have two VERY different body lines. The 73-87 trucks have very sharp edges where the 88-98 have rounded.

They would clash.

Re: Bed Replacement

I was thinking more along the lines of 2007 to 2013 style. They are more squared off.

Re: Bed Replacement

Not sure how the lines would look but this is the style i was thinking. Has square fender openings.

Re: Bed Replacement

Aren't those new beds really expensive? Around here they go for 2000+, i'm pretty sure that the 73-87 beds are cheaper. However finding one that is in good shape is difficult, especially with the dually fenders. Can you just replace the dually fender? When I had my 86 it was about 300 bucks, fit pretty good.

Re: Bed Replacement

I,m not sure if it would be an issue, but some of the newer trucks have too high bedsides for older gooseneck trailers. That makes me think that the dimensions might be quite a bit different, but it is just a guess.
