I need some info for a friend wanting to by a Suburban.

A friend of mine is looking for a 4X2 Suburban but we are finding some nice looking 4X4s. Can a 4X4 be easily converted to a 4x2? Do 4X4 frames have the holes to mount a 4X2 crossmember? I have the stock front crossmember from my 63 GMC 3/4 ton and he already has some Ridetech arms from a previous project. The Suburban will eventually be bagged and converted to to a 5x5" lug and a 5.3 with a 4l60e when its finished.

Re: I need some info for a friend wanting to by a Suburban.

IMO your better off to keep looking for a 4x2 if that is what you want. The 4x4 in the 60-66 are not as common. Especially if they are factory 4x4 and not converted to 4x4. There are those of us that actually want 4x4 over 4x2 and I'd hate to see one lost to a conversion. I'm working on converting my panel to 4x4 myself.

However, having said that, if you must, they can be converted over to 4x2. I dont know about the cross member. Others will be better able to answer that.
