Sanden or Sanden "Type" Compressor

My engine is slowing going together in my ' 87, and I thought it would be a good time to swap out the pancake style AC compressor for a Sanden 508, do the brackets, etc. I went cruising eBay to get a sense of prices, and found the majority of the ads are for Sanden "Type" or "Style" compressors, rather than genuine Sanden brand. The difference can be more than $100 less for these other compressors. My question is, is there really a good reason to pay extra for the Sanden brand? I don't want to do this over down the road in a year or two, so if it makes sense to pay a bit more, no problem...

I don't have an answer to your question, but I do know that the A/C repair shops here in the desert don't like Sanden compressors. They prefer new OEM.
