The wire is probably for the 4x4 indicator on the dash it should go under the shifter boot for transfer case to a sensor on top of case on np205 and to the shifter on a np203 my 79 k5 had it but I don't remember what gauge it was under originally fuel or speedometer I moved the indicators around when I installed the camaro tach

When I pulled the carpet out of the truck, that bracket was under the it. I'll get better pics when I get back from the field. Thx

It definitely doesn't look original. It's stainless steel. No clue what it would be used for. Dang PO's and their monkey business
