1984 k10 - Frame Issue

Bought this truck as a replacement beater/snow plow for my old rusted rig. I didn't think it would be worth fixing but it runs really nice and drives nice....well and I can't seem to leave well enough alone.

When I bought it I knew there was frame damage but it's going to be a plow so i figured, oh well. Now I'd like to fix it and would appreciate any ideas or thoughts on how to go about it.

Am I better off buying a replacement frame? There are a couple on craigslist locally I can get (rolling stock) for under 200 dollars.

Looks nasty, but fixable. You could maybe just drill the ends of the cracks and reweld or plate. The cracks kept running because they were not drilled out.

Im gonna say it's one of the rear shocks were lookin at.

Here's what I'd do find a truck in a local junk yard and undo anything attached to the frame rail from 4 to 6 inch's fwd of the shock and everything aft all the way to the bumper and then lob it off 4 to 6 inches fwd of the shock and take it home and replace that section it will be a lot cheaper and a lot less work then a complete frame swap.

Also since it's the rear frame rail you should be able to use a 2x4 truck.

Looks like there pressure on the top bushing like the shock is to short if it is that's what keeps cracking it after it was repaired

The frame on a LWB K-10 is heavier than a C-10 - actually it's a K-20 frame.
