Look at truck long distance, no phone or email

There is a truck I am very interested in, but it's 12 hours away from me in Bozeman, MT. The ad only has an address, no phone or email. I googled the address and got a business name and I called them but they didn't know anything about it. I suspect they are tired of craigslist flakes and are listing the address so people have to deal with them face-to-face, not a bad idea. But, it sucks for someone serious like me that isn't 30 minutes away. Anyone have an idea for me?
It's not that complicated, I just need to find someone honest enough to purchase a truck for me, and then I will go pick it up. That's not complicated at all is it?

Re: Look at truck long distance, no phone or email

Could be a scam and could be a fake listing. I wouldn't go anywhere unless I was pretty certain what I was looking for was both there and actually available for sale.

I assume you take precautions when you go look at such things, such as a means of self defense, telling a friend, and bringing another friend with you.

I usually have a UAV flying top cover and I generally insert a security team including sniper and spotter. **OK, kidding about last sentence.

Craigslist is usually a hit or miss for me, sometimes they show up and sometimes they give you the run around and don'tshow,Surely there's someone in the area that could have a look for ya.

Trying to have a person purchase a truck for you might be the first problem, we're all just regular Joe's around here who usually don't throw their money around.

Re: Look at truck long distance, no phone or email

Spending the time and money to see a vehicle in person is critical. Several years ago I flew from the mid-west to New York to look at a 65 Mustang convertable that was for sale on e-bay. Car looked incredible in the pictures and the price was good. When I looked at the car I noticed the frame was almost swiss cheese. Good money spent to prevent a possible bad decision.

If you don't have an agent you can really trust to do it for you, you'd best bite the bullet and get over there yourself.

Mind what I said about your personal safety.

I thought I was only 350/400 miles away and would have gone for you Shawn but I'm 650 miles away and you are 845 miles away. Good luck

Sounds like one you have to forget about. Looks like even the address is wrong, so what aya gonna do? It's a listing with no contact info and it's twelve hours away

yep either go on a road trip and chase that wild goose or if you cant afford the road trip you cant afford the truck// but if you do go you could end up dead in a ditch too

I bought one last week, never spoke on the phone just via text. Never saw the truck, he cashed the check hope it's there on Monday when the shipper gets there.

Re: Look at truck long distance, no phone or email

I refuse clients that want to deal with me via text. I tell them "either we talk by phone or you can rent from someone else."

Best of luck with that text deal.

Re: Look at truck long distance, no phone or email

I prefer text as there's always a record of what was said and agreed to. I did my research on the guy based on name and phone number. The pictures of the truck were taken in the driveway of the house that matches the address on title. I found his kids and wife and their places of employment on Facebook. I found his business phone number and address. I sent the check signature require he signed for it with the same name the bank check is written to that matches the drivers license and the title. Pretty sure if it goes sideways I have enough info to give the police.

OH &^%$!

I tried to sell a 57 GMC on craigslist. More flakes than a box of cereal. Locals only, email and or phone. Meet at the bank where you can verify that all the bills are authentic, then go to the motor vehicle where you transfer the title.

I I sold a firebird back in the 90's and according to the DOMV its still on record as being in my name. every year I go and get it corrected and every year I go back and it pops up still in my name.

I suspect that somebody in indiana spent a million bucks on a 73 SD firbird that used to be a rust free arizona 350 espirite.

If it is still in your name just have the title junked and be done with it....

Would you be willing to talk to me about it? If you aren't buying it that is.
