72 3 speed linkage problem?
I have my weekend driver, 72 C-10, 307, all original, 98K. Three speed on column sometimes sticks and now it seems does not want to go into first while stopped (I can get there but the trans grinds). While driving, if I down shift, it goes and no problems shifting into other gears. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Geezer, duh, I wasn't thinking clutch but it makes sense now. The clutch petal is about 1 -2 inches higher than the brake. Will let you know.

Re: 72 3 speed linkage problem?
Put the shifter in neutral and look under the hood. At the bottom of the column locate the shift linkage. There is a hole between the shift linkages that should align with the 2 links and the column. You can put a small drill bit or nail through and adjust them until it all aligns.

Jurassic-1,
Just wanted to follow-up, alignment did the trick, back to normal. Thanks. |
