Re: Ask me anything about a 4L80e swap using standalone controller

Here is a picture of the 4L80E transmission I installed in my truck with the mechanical speedometer tailhousing.

like i said you need to find out the year and make of the truck the trans came out of , maibe even take the speedo out of THAT truck
that should work if the end drive is the same in the rear diff
if youre handy and have small fingers / fine motorskills you might be able to build the mecanics of the electronic speedo intoo the housing of youre old mecanical speedo
there usually just hold to the facia plate with two tiny screws

I wanted to keep it kinda of simple watahyaknow. I was thinking something more in line with this
http://www.autometer.com/5-speedo-16...a-lite-ii.html

Or

http://www.dakotadigital.com/index.c...rod/prd783.htm

It looks like they have all the connections that's needed to tie into a late model tranny. Mine is a 2004 if that helps any...

Re: Ask me anything about a 4L80e swap using standalone controller

If I had a extra 800$ that would be in my 78 truck 1 day after the UPS truck left the driveway.

D D sure has some nice "stuff"

We are putting that similar D D set up in a 46 Chevy truck, they address everything in one set!!

Re: Ask me anything about a 4L80e swap using standalone controller

I am getting everything to do the swap in my 74 GMC 1/2 ton. Will my Th400 cooler lines work or do I need to get different ones?

I was able to use my original th400 lines with a little re-tweaking.

If it helps, I'm getting a 93-97 model where both cooler lines are up front.
