Its hard to tell from that angle but looks like an AC compressor bracket.

A/c bracket, two holes on the water pump, other one on the front of the head on the block

Looks like a California smog pump bracket to me.......like the one I took off my Dad's 72 K-10 Shorty...???

That's what I was thinking, seemed to light to be an A/C bracket, and the width of the bracket seemed more suited for a smog pump. Thanks

definately not an a/c bracket from 71-72chevy truck, the smog pump theory seems good

I'd say it's a smog pump bracket. I have one on my 68. Mine may be a slightly different shape though looking at the picture again.

ya its a smog pump bracket alright, I was looking at my friends parts truck and it goes onto the intake and the smog pump sits relatively in the middle of the engine on his 69 parts truck
