how long are the stock trailing arms?

if you saw another one of my posts im planning on installing a trailing arm suspension in place of my leaf springs on my 83 C10. Does anyone know off hand how long the stock trailing arms are and also how far apart they are spaced on the rear?

On a short bed the are roughly 4 ft. 8 in. long
Across the rear they are 3 ft. 8 in.
These are ball-park figures as they are angled and it depends where you take the measurement.
I measured the rear width from across the monting pads.
I am sure someone else can give you an exact measurement though.

I've never heard of any one doing this? If you don't mind me asking, Why? All I know Is the trailing arm ride is one of the major reasons why I like my old truck. So you've got the crossmember, the trailing arms, the rear end and the panhard bar ready to go? That would be a cool pic to show around.

im going this route for ride, easier spring rate selection (cheaper to buy new coils than leafs), no leaf spring wrap up and better traction.

I hate leaf springs

I dont have the parts just yet. hopefully in the coming weeks i should be able to gather everything.

You sure the crossmember that holds the trailin arms will go into that later model frame? Im just not too sure that it will work out right.

This month super chevy tested a 66 chevelle that has Hot Rods To Hell trailing arm suspension in it.It is based on the gm truck set-up.The chevelle handles corners better than stock, now.
