Re: Iso 5-7 blade mechanical fan blade
I've ran a 6 blade fan off an 80s small block (I think, it was a loose fan after my stock one shot off a blade 600 miles from home)
I've switched to electric fans on my 63 Nova, if you can't find one locally you can have mine for the cost of shipping.

Re: Iso 5-7 blade mechanical fan blade

Re: Iso 5-7 blade mechanical fan blade
Mechanical, I only had 1" of space between the radiator and water pump. Reduced to 5/8" with aluminum radiator plus it would have hit my new A/C compressor so I had to switch to electrics. Under the hood is really tight in the little Nova with a hopped up 250.
Kept the six cool for the couple years I ran it.

Re: Iso 5-7 blade mechanical fan blade
No clue what turned you against them, but clutch fans are the only thing I'll consider using, unless it's a vehicle with electric fans already on it. Not that there's anything wrong with a good electric fan conversion.... just that I would never use a fixed-blade fan (and certainly not a flex fan).

Re: Iso 5-7 blade mechanical fan blade
A 6-blade rigid fan is a HP robber. Look at this dyno test from Car Craft.
http://www.network54.com/Forum/21565...+Fan+Dyno+Test A clutch fan was closest to electric fan or no fan at all.
