Re: Anyone have a cad drawing?
Detailed CAD models take a ton of time and real world measuring to make...especially when the factory didn't have them to start with
I can get any late-model CAD stuff from the GM archives, but if it never existed to start, you gotta hope someone has made one. Best bet is to lurk on the AutoCad type forums and see if anyone has put up a model. Places do SELL large packs of these type of things, but since they are intended for industrial uses (manufacturing), they usually cost stupid money. You could get a trial of autocad, import the line drawing that we do have, and then plot points to make your own profile.

Re: Anyone have a cad drawing?
I only want a side view like the pic above.
I'll probably just draw it myself.

Re: Anyone have a cad drawing?
The General Motors Archive has almost all the years from the AD and on. They have advertisement photos and other historic articles. I printed the 1955 1st series booklet that has all the line drawings and specs for all the 1st series trucks. It also has the complete specs for each truck. Take some time to explore it if you have not done so before. I just Google the year followed by general Motors Archives.

Re: Anyone have a cad drawing?
There is a member on here that does these and renders them. Can't think of the name but will find it in the am and post. If you search my threads for the 3d rendering one I think I mention his name in it.

Re: Anyone have a cad drawing?
I only need/want a basic side view.
A rear elevation and a front elevation would be a bonus.

Re: Anyone have a cad drawing?
If you're looking for something that's close, but not 100% precise, you can use a pdf-to-dwg converter. Google "any pdf to dwg converter." It's usually pretty good, but may result in A LOT of polylines depending on the pdf.
If you have a pdf drawing I can probably convert it for you depending on what version of CAD you're using.

Re: Anyone have a cad drawing?
I didn't know about pdf to dwg.
That'll actually work just fine for what I want to do. Thanks

Re: Anyone have a cad drawing?
IF I can get my old laptop to fire up, I have a bunch of different ones I did. I need to try to get it up and going so I can pull all of the data off anyway.
I just inserted a picture in CAD, and drew over the top of it. Then scaled it up to meet actual dimensions. worked pretty good, and came out close on everything. I will try to get the laptop up and going in the next few days. If I can get it going, you are more than welcome to the CAD drawings. |
