Unhappy TAXES and BROX. FEES SUCK !

I knew that ordering stuff from the states would have fees when it got here.(Ontario) I ordered a 1 Piece Window Kit from a vendor in the states had it sent to my gramps place in Lousiana then had him send it to me We were planning on going to the states last week but plans changed and we did not go. I was going to bring it back home with me.Well because we did not go and I had it shipped here this is the break down on the cost. $29.06 $33.21 P.S.T and 50.00 Brokerage and $3.50 G.S.T on the brokerage fee = $115.77 ! + the shipping to get it here. I guess it' s fustrating I work a day to pay Freeking taxes. 19 yeas old and learning.

Well I just had to vent.

Thanks Guys.

I thought that if you had it sent to you as a gift that it didn't have any brokerage fees or import duties. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

UPS charges large brokering fees. The next time you have parts shipped up to you, try the post office. I have had a couple of my Canadian customers tell me that it is a heck of a lot cheaper that way. WES www.CalssicHeartbeat.com

Refuse delivery and tell the driver that you will clear your own customs. They will take your goodies away and call you to pick up the paperwork, take the sheet to your local customs office, pay your pst and gst and then go back to ups, pick up your parcel. Boycott UPS, don't ship with them!! Maybe it will help them learn. I had a $120CDN CPU come last week, they wanted $60 in charges. I cleared it myself and it cost me $17.00 The postal service is the way to go.

I got sick and tired with UPS and their stupid fees, I ask to get it sent through US Post and when I get Brokerage fees I dispute them and usually get most if not all of my money back

That is good advice, but most towns don't have such a place, unless you are in the southern areas.

They should if the town is big enough. If it has an airport with flights coming from the US then there should be custom dudes around somewhere.

Hmmm, I'll have to look into it.

I think the only cites in Alberta that have flights direct from the US are Calgary & Edmonton. All others are connectors after clearing.

Even still if there is a UPS office nearby there has to be a Customs place too. Bottom line is don't use UPS if at all possible

When I was shipping parts to Canada, I tried to use the mail system unless parts was too big, then it went UPS. Most customers asked me to state on paperwork that customer will clear customs. I now know why.

Look on the bright side, you have no healthcare insurance and drug price gouging issues! I'm self-insured and pay a small ransom each month so I can go to the doctor if need be.

I guess it's the old "pay me now, or pay me later" dillema.
