Wipers/POS's

OK guys, give me some ideas.I have a 2000 Dodge Dakota, a 2000 Chevy Blazer and my 68 Chevy Panel.Seems like I am changing wiper blades at least 2-3 times a year on all three.I keep the windows clean and all three have perfect windsheilds.I have tried Rain-X and it seems to help a little. Any ideas on how to get a little better life out of my blades.BTW I always replace the whole wiper never just the blades.

Take blades off 'til you need them--sun deterioates them--use Rain-X--don't need wipers over 50 mph.

I have found that you get what you pay for when it comes to windshield wiper blades. I buy the best, they seem to last alot longer. The problem is that the rubber hardens and drys up making them brittle. Buy the super soft rubber ones.

Rain X requires you to reapply every couple of weeks when it is wearing off it is worse than just a clean winshield.
My sugesstion would be dump the Rain X and clean the windshield with Bon-Ami. Use the original specification blades that came on the vehicle.

I don't know what greasy rag you are using to apply Rain-x, but suggest you try it on a clean windshield and as per instructions. I have used it for approximately 10 years-twice a year only on all my vehicles and NEVER had any of the problems mentioned.

Try running some scothbrite along both sides of the rubber to restore the "edge". Never tried it but heard it helps.

I had been using rain-x, seemed like a lot of elbow grease to get
streaks out but the stuff was great once you got it on. I found
some rain-x winshield cleaner at Wally World its orange looking
That stuff works great. No rubbing just hit the little ole washer
button and let the car do the rest. Blades on my 2002 Impala
still factory, I think I've changed my Toyota's once but its
about 5 years old.

They deteriorate slower if you park it where the sun won't hit them.

I use the silicone ones on my S10. Forgot what brand. It lasts pretty long, even in the hot weather. I dunno if hot, dry weather will affect it more.

Make sure you buy natural rubber wiper like they sell at NAPA. on't buy no 'Zone crap-they'll scratch your windsheild.

I have to do the same thing. I think that's just the price we have to pay for living in the south. I don't use them (wipers) too often but I have to replace them 2 to 3 times a year also due to the blade deterioration. I have tried different manufactures and the results are the same. I noticed the ones I got a couple weeks ago came with a small packet of cleaner. It smelled like alcohol. I thought about cleaning the blades periodically with alcohol but I think that may dry them out even faster.
