looking for pictures of 18" wheels stock height and lowered

Hello,

Im looking for pictures of 18" wheels, especially with 255-55-18 tires. If you have a Picture please post if it has been lowered.

I've searched but most pictures are of 67 & later c10s....

If love to see a stock height truck with 18's and a few with 3/5 drops.

Thanks
Jason

Re: looking for pictures of 18" wheels stock height and lowered

Thanks for the picture and link.

I can't understand why its difficult to find pictures of our trucks on 18" rims. Is this not a common size on these trucks? I decided on 18" wheels because I want a more modern size wheel. I know some people like 20's but I wouldn't want my sidewalls to be too low profile.

I followed this link
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=585624
Do you think that the yellow truck posted by Greg63 has been lowered or is it stock height?

Thanks,
Jason

Re: looking for pictures of 18" wheels stock height and lowered

I have 18" x 8.5" and some time this week will get 265/60/18 tires for it which will be just the right width for those wheels. Stock height for now minus engine, I plan to do a 2" lower shackle out back and remove the overloads.

[QUOTE=jason999;7245474]Thanks for the picture and link.

I can't understand why its ult to find pictures of our trucks on 18" rims.
Everything is 20s. Bigger is not better.
I went for size over big. I knew 17s were a must... Big brakes required 17. Soon every rim I liked was not available. The '55 Bel Air at the shop had 18s. Not big enough, BFG. Looked to find a 28" replacement to suit 3.73 gears and came up with Nitto 555s. Now at 28.4 a 3.73 gear and a new TKO 600 at .64 vs .68 t5 running 2000 at 75. Perspective at 3000 at 1:1 vs 1:.64 is a 110mph or 1000rpm drop. All in all new school wants a bigger rim. I like mine with a bit more meat.

Re: looking for pictures of 18" wheels stock height and lowered

For instance...
a Nitto 420s 255/50/18 is 28" tall. Close to stock.
My 295/45/18 is close minus 3" of rim.
Chose height, rim if available. I chose tire, first.

No one else has pictures?

If someone else is searching in the future and finds this thread, you can see a '63 long bed fleetside here with 18" wheels and stock suspension.

I think this is the only one Ive seen with 18's and stock suspension.

Thanks,
Jason

I will be running 18s on my truck but I havent bought them yet. Going with mob steel or wheel vintique smoothies. I am doing 4.5 in front and 6 in the rear. I will buy them here in 1-3 months.

I'm working on some 18" steelies, hoping to get the center caps attached, wheels painted and tires put on ASAP - I'm only lowered 2" but hope to lower more soon!

Mine are ABS - I couldn't find any that were made out of anything else, but to be honest didn't search around a ton. I got these off of eBay, and they seem like really good quality and stay attached really well.

I like those wheels! I was looking at 18" rally wheels but ended up with 18" Riddlers. I think 18's are the way to go with these trucks.

You went 2" in the front and how much in the rear? How did you lower it?

Thanks

Thanks! They are stock wheels off of a Nissan Titan, I'm hoping I can get the center caps to fit properly.

Now that I think about it, the front is lowered 2.5" with drop spindles, and the rear has 2" blocks. I plan on putting 2" lowering springs in the front, and then 3 or 4" springs in the rear.

I saw the 18 x 8 and 18 x 9 rallys and thought they looked really nice too. I pulled the trigger and when they arrived, I was very impressed. Waiting on rear tires now. I was torn between the 18 inch rallys and Ridlers. Looks really good!

Re: looking for pictures of 18" wheels stock height and lowered

Glad you started this thread. I have been looking for wheels and tires for a few days now. I did a 4/6" drop and am for sure doing 18's both front and back and want the side walls of the tires to be about the same height for looks. I am thinking like 265/45/18 on a 18x9 rear and a 235/50/18 on a 18x8 front. Not easy to find everything to accommodate this mixture.
