1964 C10 Choke

The choke on my 1964 C-10 is very hard to pull. If I unhook the cable from the carb it slides freely so the cable is fine. The problem is an arm that rubs very hard on the choke cam. It rubs hard because the throttle return spring controls the pressure. What does this arm do? Is it really needed? It only seems to move the throttle a little bit when the choke comes on. I'm not sure this is the stock carb. I have a 250 straight 6.

using either foot press down on the accelerator pedal before pulling the choke knob

Thanks, I tried that but it didn't work. Pulling the lever away from the choke cam with my hand moves the throttle linkage, but moving the throttle linkage does not move the arm. Maybe something else is hooked up wrong.

Maybe take another pic of the linkage where it hooks to the carb.
Could be something easy to spot if we could see it.

I put a lighter throttle return spring on and lubed everything now the choke moves ok.
Can anyone tell what model carb this is? If I needed to replace it, what model is best for a 250? thanks

From what I can see of it, it looks like a Rochester B, which would have likely been the stock carb in '64. A 250 was not a stock engine though, probably a 230.

x2 on the carb being a model B Rochester.

Many different variants....make sure to get the number off the base of the carb.

I had a 230 motor and had a 250 put in. I think they kept the carb. What carb is best for a 250?

I had a Crack in the hose from the valve cover to the manifold. That caused my poor idle problem so it looks like my carb is ok. Thanks
