Rear step bumper question
Did GM produce trucks with painted white rear step bumpers from the factory? The reason I ask is I'm in the process of freshening up a '77 K20 with 23,000 original miles. It has a white front bumper and chrome rear step bumper which drives me nuts. I would like to replace it with a white rear step bumper if that was available as a factory combination.

Re: Rear step bumper question
Never seen one white, but like BHC41051 has post I have seen plenty gray/silver. Back in the day in the Houston area I can even remember many car dealers name stenciled across that back of those same step bumpers.

Re: Rear step bumper question
Yup. My 76 had a white step bumper with the name of the Chevy dealer in Texas etched into it. I think Keith will confirm that you could order the truck with no rear bumper and the dealer would install their own bumper. In fact, I think the default order code was no rear bumper, unless you specified one. So, it would be "factory correct" to have a non-factory rear bumper installed by the dealer.

Re: Rear step bumper question
That is correct; you can/could order a truck with no rear bumper.
But I would argue that a bumper installed at the dealership would be "factory correct". That occurred downstream from the factory and would open the door for all kinds of equipment (headache bars, grill bars, snow plows, etc) to be deemed "factory correct". K

Re: Rear step bumper question
Thanks guys, I wouldn't be at all surprised if this truck had a dealer installed rear bumper and if that's the case I may have the chrome one on it powder coated white at the same time I have the front redone. I'll post a picture this evening.

Re: Rear step bumper question
Favor, I think it would depend on the color of the truck and the look you were going for. I am guessing by small oe tow mirrors you're talking about the mirrors typically refered to as "dumbo" mirrors.
