Searching for the perfect wheels
I've got a 1987 R10 swb two wheel drive. I'm trying to find wheels, but i don't even really know where to start. The more research i do, the more confused I get. If anyone knows a good place to go to learn the technical side of picking wheels that will fit I would greatly appreciate the info. Most aftermarket wheel companies have an "application guide" that will direct you to their inventory that will fit your vehicle but if they are accurate it would seem as though my options are very limited, and i do not think that is the case.

Re: Searching for the perfect wheels
Zach, if it were me, I would print out a picture of my truck. Straight sideways. Then cut out the body of the truck. and Just cruise the internet and when you find a wheel that looks appealing to you, take your cutout and place it over the wheel. Sort of a poor mans photoshop.

Re: Searching for the perfect wheels
I've had this problem as well. It seems there are super expensive wheels, and inexpensive wheels, both with no real difference in quality. You can get wheels for $130 each that are excellent and will last forever. Or you can pay thousands per wheel. In the end its just all about what you think looks good. Some people are going to like them, others are not. Nothing you can do about that, really.

Re: Searching for the perfect wheels
Go to a website such as Discount Tire or Tire Rack and they have a wheel fitment computer program. They have many differnt styles to pick from and the computer will match the wheels in a picture of your vehicle so that you can see what it looks like.

Re: Searching for the perfect wheels
here is the best wheel fitment website. it will give you your stock wheel and tire size. then you play with different wheel size and tire sizes to see the difference in each.

Re: Searching for the perfect wheels
OK, it's been two years, I think that you should have learned to upload photos by now I'm running out of time to chose the wheels for my '70 C-10.

Re: Searching for the perfect wheels
That's easy. U.S. Mags have re-released the Indy wheel. Problem solved.

Re: Searching for the perfect wheels
Unfortunately, not at this time from what I can tell. I decided to keep my Jimmy 1/2 ton because of this.

Also, there were a couple of sets of wheels I asked them about and the response I got was "Those are currently on back-order. Can I help you with something else?" This is even though I mentioned I was not in a hurry to get them. On the plus side, they respond quickly and their prices for both wheels and tires are very competitive. If I were buying something off-the-shelf, I would purchase through MrWheelDeal, but if I want a custom made wheel, I would go elsewhere. |
