Stepside Bed Side Panels

Should the side panels on a 62 stepside bolt on or are they as in my case supposed to be welded to the rear cross member?

Re: Stepside Bed Side Panels

Should be bolted on. The entire bed is bolted together.

Re: Stepside Bed Side Panels

That's what Id thought, but it looks like mine have been welded to the rear cross member.

I guess I will have to cut it along that weld.

Re: Stepside Bed Side Panels

They are bolted and welded. You have to cut the welds when taking them apart.

My old bed was also welded where the rear crossmember meets the sides.
