Brake time
Hi all I just finished my front disk kit. Now I am going to start on the lines and master cylinder. I am going to the junk yard in the am. My thoughts are I am going to get a booster/master cylinder and proportioning valve from a 71-87 c10. Then use the junk master cylinder as a core. Will this work.

That will work if you don't mind the look of those booster brackets and drilling holes in your firewall. Also you will not have as good a connection between your booster/master and the pedal bracket than if you were to use the correct factory mounting holes.
All of my booster brackets use the factory mounting holes.

I used capt's bracket and a new MC and booster from a 71 Impala. Works great and looks great. I did forget to paint the MC and booster but I'm taking the front everything off and will have to wire wheel it and give it a coat of POR15.

Thanks guys This is what I have on the truck now. What about adding a 71 impala m/c and proportioning valve. I know I will also have to change the rod.

You can use the '71 Impala booster and master, or any of the compatible boosters listed in post #183 of the '63-'66 booster bracket for sale thread. You do not have to use the master cylinder that originally came with a given booster. You just need to use a master that is correct for the length of the intermediate pushrod.

Hey Captain I have another question for you or anyone else. I went to the junk yard today and found a few master cylinders and brake boosters 82-02 s10. Three questions all the master cylinders were plastic. Can they be changed with a metal one of the same year? Also the proportioning valves had what looked like some kind of plug. And would I need to use one of your mounting brackets with this setup? Thanks
