1968 LWB C10 "survivor"
We just picked up an all original (except for a mid eighties repaint) 68 C10 with just under 57k miles on the odometer. The plans are to go through everything to make sure it can be a reliable daily for our oldest who should be getting his license in a couple weeks. The hard part will be for dad to leave it alone and keep focus on my other two projects already in progress.

Pretty much identical to my '69, color, low miler and similar steering wheel fade. My paint job though, is every bit of 46 years old !!

Re: 1968 LWB C10 "survivor"
Quote:
The truck was bought new by the grandfather of the gentleman we bought it from. It was garage kept its entire life and used for minor work duty around the farm. About 7-8 years ago, it was handed down to the owner's grandson who ultimately decided to let it go and posted it on CL. It was over an hour drive to get to the grandparent's house where the truck was still residing. We met the owner and learned he actually lives in the same town as us. He was pretty excited to learn that he was going to have a chance to see it running around town with our son behind the wheel. We don't have space to keep it indoors, so that has us a little concerned as we don't want to watch it rust away, so we'll be doing what is needed to prevent that from happening. The first item to get attention in that regard will be the bed floor. It is rusted and pitted so the plan is to knock the rust down then spray some Raptor liner on it.

Re: 1968 LWB C10 "survivor"
So at this point, the brake system has been gone through, shocks replaced and new tires have been mounted on recently blasted and powder coated wheels. Each thing we've gotten into has snowballed into a bigger project than expected. I have a couple threads on the board about problems encountered with the brakes and the latest project of converting to HEI. We also discovered a cracked wheel when they were blasted. Still loving it though and she's coming along. Our son has his license now and school starts next week, so the pressure is on to get her on the road.

Re: 1968 LWB C10 "survivor"
HEI conversion buttoned up, carb rebuilt and on the road now for two weeks. He's loving it! Thanks to all the help and input along the way to get it to this point.
