70 C10 drop 4/2

Hi all,
Been on this site for years but don't post much. So much great info here. I wanted to post up my drop. My truck had 22's on it and I rode on them for years and hated them. I bought 4/2 drop springs, drop shocks for the front and adjustable air shocks for the rear. I haul some heavy stuff from time to time. My goal was to level the truck and bring it down a bit.

I started with 17x8 wheels and 255/60-17 tires all around. The rear came down 4" nicely and was straight forward. The only problems I had was my pipes came down on my diff so I had them rerouted. You can see the adjustable panhard bar I made in this pic as well. I ratchet strapped the axle over to center it up and cut/tacked my panhard bar. It moved a bit when the strap was removed so I made the adjustable one. I sleeved a 5/8" bolt to the bar and coupling nut. Worked great.

Replaced the springs in the front by removing the U-bolts and replaced the shocks. To my surprise I already had 2" drop springs and was not happy. So I replaced them with 4" springs to get my 2" drop.

It sit's nice now and drives and handles great.

Nice write-up. I like how the panhard bar ended up almost parallel to the axle. I'll be doing the same very soon, but only about 2/4 total. Whose springs did you use? Do you like the spring rates?

I originally bought DJM all around but since I needed 4" up front and DJM only has a 2" and 3" I had to put Hotchkis up front.

My ride is like night and day. Much smoother and doesn't handle like a semi truck anymore. I am really happy and its fun to drive.

You might want to invest in rear shock relocators.
Look how severe your rear "shock angle'' is.
They no longer compress,... they just pivot on the shock bolts,...

Looking at your truck I would never have guessed that it's even lowered. It's hard to believe that it's still sitting that high in front with 4" drop springs.

AGREED! It put me on my heels a bit when I was planning this out.
