info for all
most probably know this but if not late 70 earl 80 chevy van tilt coloms are direct bolt ins for 67 to 72 and the electrical plugs are different but the wires are color coded the same, so they are easy to wire in. also I went to the salvage yard and bought some electric bucket seats out of a 96 cougar and they match up to the floor perfact all you have to do is drill holes and put a backing plate under the floor It was like they were made for the riges in the floor. and I was reading a book here awhile back that said you could replace the bushing in eather the idler or pipman arm Im not sure, with an bearing and it was like haveing power steering. If any one else has herd of this fill me in please I lost the mag...

The van tilt is a very comon piece. The older van tilts had the horse shoe plug just tile ours, but they came with the mile long shifter like the trucks did too. (Sticks WAY out if you have a smaller wheel) I read about the bearing deal a couple years ago, but the parts were rather expensive. I rember reading it and saying that you could do a junk yard power steering upgrade cheaper than that and still have parts that you can get from the parts store or dealer. |

well I live 35 mi south west of lubbock in brownfield. I had this truck gave to me about 3 yrs ago and I have been buying parts every since. mostly engine parts, I splurged to go all 4340 steel(crank&h-beams) and am building a 496 stroker for it its not complete yet but I don't lack much in that area. for the truck I already found a strait wide (short) bed for 350.00 so i replaced the step side. I will be ordering a new fiberglass cowl hood and fenders in the next 3 weeks.when I got the truck it had a 71 clip on it and i traded for a 68 chevy clip the hood had a dent in the nose of it that I fixed but I like the cowl better so Ill probably scrap it. cab needs alot of work in the rocker and vent area and one cab corner. wish I could find a strait small glass cab.... Im going to shave side lights on the bed and buy 67 fenders.
