Shorty headers

My son and I lowered his truck. It is a 72 GMC LWB with a HO350 crate engine. The front is lowered 4.5", rear 4". It has long tube headers on it now. In the last 4 months he has banged the headers a couple of times. I remember some posts a while ago about shorty headers for our trucks. I searched but could not find the threads. So finally to my questions. Do they make a shorty, coated header with a ball socket collecter? How much low end torque and horsepower will we lose with the shorty header compared with the long branch header? Part numbers and store names would be great. These will be xmas gift if they exist.

Thanks,
Parrish

Well there are a few diffirent options

ECE has them coated+Large coin.

Dynomax small 1 1/2 primarys to 2 1/2 collector

I am using Headman chevelle ball flange they are 1 5/8 to 3" You need to use North West Auto fab Motor mounts to clear the 1 and 2 tubes.

Re: Shorty headers

Check these out, I think they're right up your alley...

Hedman Elite

$300 bucks from summitracing.com, but you cant beat the quality for the price

Only thing comparable on the market is JBA, and they are $735

That is a picture of chrome JBAs, I still don't see $435 worth of difference. Same 14ga steel, same ball/socket collectors, same 3/8" flanges.

TQ and HP loss will probably not even be noticable by the seat of your pants. It's not even really a loss, you are just moving the power up in the rpm band.

All above my 2 cents. Hedman doesn't pay me for this... though they should.

On a side note, are you looking to adopt? I could use a set myself
