A picture of my 1966 Chevy Stepside
This is my first post. My truck was purchased as a hot rod but I wanted a vintage looking truck. It had a drop 3" front, 14" wide low profile rear tires with deep dish flat black rims, no rear bumper, side dump exhaust just behind the doors (it was very loud). I had to bring it back to the look of a vintage truck (see picture) Although, it still has the heart of a hot rod which is a Chevy 350 (4 bolt) with 305 heads, headers, with a mid rise Edelbrock performer 4barrel carburetor system. (about 300 ponies) connected to a T5 tranny. The duel exhaust is a custom Flow Master setup to the rear (now it just grumbles)

Re: A picture of my 1966 Chevy Stepside
Welcome, that's a good looking truck. I'd like to hear how you like the T5 with the 350. I am in the process of putting a 350 in my truck and should have it back on the road next week.
I loved the T5 with my 230 six cylinder, and hope it holds up well behind the V8. I guess it's all in how you drive it! |

Re: A picture of my 1966 Chevy Stepside
It came with the T5 works well for me, it takes little to get use to because of the off center shift pattern (nearer to the passage seat) it was from a Camaro.

Re: A picture of my 1966 Chevy Stepside
You can bolt an adapter on the shifter to move the arm over closer to you to give you better geometry.

Re: A picture of my 1966 Chevy Stepside
Mine is a World Class from a 90's S10 as I recall, so the shifter is centered. I like it, just hope it likes the V8. My truck is used mainly for weekend driving and cruise ins, so I suspect it will hold up fine
