Boosted DD 1987 k10 4bt

Alright I have been on and off the forums since I was in high school. I have had so many different project trucks I have bought and flipped that I was able to pay for my college tuition. This build is something I just so happened to fall into after recently totaling my daily driver. While surfing the local ads and different pages on facebook I stumbled onto this 87 K10 that had already had a 4bt swap done. It has a dana 44 and full floating 14 bolt under it as well as a divorced Rockwell t case and a sm465. I don't have a ton of huge plans to change much except lowering it some and going a different route with wheels and tires. I would like to also install an nv4500 or a gearvendors in the future but for now fix the minor issues like tie rods brakes and leaks and drive it as my DD.

Re: Boosted DD 1987 k10 4bt

Thank you! I've just now been able to get it tagged and on the road and I've noticed what sounds to me like a drivetrain clatter! I topped the t case and tranny off and both were about a quart low and didn't get any change! I did notice the slip yoke was a little loose on the shaft between the tranny and t case. It only will do it in 3rd and 4th gear and you can step on the clutch and it will go away.

Angry Re: Boosted DD 1987 k10 4bt

Drained the tcase oil and I got a lot of glitter and I isolated the noise to the case so it looks like I'm on the hunt for an np205. Once I get through fall harvest I'll get some better pictures of everything.

Re: Boosted DD 1987 k10 4bt

Just a quick update I made a 700 mile 12 hr round trip and scored a divorced np205 for $150! I got the Rockwell pulled out as well and you can definitely tell it has issues. Im going to build a new mount for the np205 case as well so I can hang it high and clock the case so it doesn't hang down so far. I'm hoping the drive shaft angles aren't too far off as they look pretty steep.

Nice truck you have here! How's harvest going? The no rain up here sure has everything severely dusty compared to most years.

Re: Boosted DD 1987 k10 4bt

Thank you I'm glad I was able to snag it! Harvest has been going good and prevented me from having very much spare time! We got all our corn picked and really fought sugar cane aphids in the milo down here! We are trying finish up single crop beans right now and they are actually doing pretty good for the are! I may have to let you know when I come up to Iowa this winter and check out your truck I've read your thread several times!
