do alternator voltage regulators have heat sink compound on the back side?
Took my 87s alternator apart to blast/tumble it I mean completely apart and while assamelbing back I noticed the voltage regulator on the back side (on the metal plate) was pretty dirty with gunk so I started cleaning it off.
Then I thought wait was that heat sink compound I just removed? maybe not but wanted to sure to know to put some back if it was and i can't find a dang thing on a deco 12si alternator and heat sink compound on the internet! but i think it may have been? |

A little heatsink paste might not hurt anything. There's no info on it in the service or training manuals. The HEI modules use it.

Re: do alternator voltage regulators have heat sink compound on the back side?
thanks! and by all the pictures and ebay ads i looked at doesn't seem to have heat sink compound on that plate as shown in the video.
guess it was years of gunk buildup but sure did almost seem like heat compound..ah well leaving it off. |
