Dodge Dakota door seals not even close.

I ordered a new set from Rock Auto. They went on nice but, I cant even get the door close to closing. I ordered them for a 1992. Are used ones the only way to go? All the ones in the junkyard I've ran into were worn out by the door sill from boots.

Re: Dodge Dakota door seals not even close.

I've pulled several sets from junkyard trucks and have not had a problem. I think the key is that they are 25 plus years old and broken in. The ones on my 68 work perfectly, door closes nice and tight but does not need to be slammed. Based on all the threads here that I have read it is a crap shoot as to how clip on type door seals will fit an individual truck.

I thought i read in a different thread a while back that you may have to slightly bend the mounting lip inward to use the dakota seals, but don't quite me on that.

Wes from Classic Heartbeat sells some clip on ones. I don't know how they work but I plan on buying some when I get to that point. I thought this could be useful information in the future.

Re: Dodge Dakota door seals not even close.

Ended up going to the wrecking yard and grabbing used ones. They fit much better. I will run them until I find some nice used ones. Didn't want to mess with my pinch welds or door adjustment.
