anyone have a 4G/4GC 283/327 rochester carb with A.I.R. 66-67
If anyone has one I would like to know where the hose from the diverter valve hooks to the carb for vacuum signal? A picture would be great. Thanks, Rod.

Hmmm talk to member cortcomp (if that's how you spell it) over in the 60-66 section. He's doing a full blown restoration on his 66 factory 327 an powerglide truck which was a Cali truck with smog an he might be able to help.

here is a picture of the valve and hose. I have no port on the carb for it and it wouldn't reach if I had one. Carb may not be a California carb though. I suspect this goes to the back of the carb but unsure.

I have a Rochester 4b AIR diverter valve smog hook up on my 68 if that helps. Are they similar?

I was troubleshooting my AIR system a few weeks ago and found this site helpful.

I have a Rochester 4gc carb so I am not sure where on that carb the hose hooks up. 68 and on has a Quadra jet . Similar but different.

My diverter valve connects under the choke vacuum thingy. You are right, I have a Q-jet.

As far as camaros were concerned http://www.camaros.org/emissions.shtml 66-67 didn't use a diverter valve, they were not used until 68.

You are correct it is a mixture control valve. It still needs vacuum signal though.

Re: anyone have a 4G/4GC 283/327 rochester carb with A.I.R. 66-67
You might try finding someone with a repair manual for your year truck, if you want it all original to include the smog equipment. Most people just gut the system, as in those days it was California only. The other 49 states did not use this (except sometimes New Jersey and Colorado). It was used to supply air to the exhaust during warm-up to further combust the rich mixture until the choke opened. There was a thermostatic switch by the thermostat, and in some cases, actually mounted to the thermostat housing. If that thermostatic switch is gone, that AIR system doesn't work, anyway. Anyway, the vacuum line would go to the thermostatic switch, which was connected to full manifold vacuum.
Let me see a pic of the front of the engine, especially the thermostat housing and the front of the intake manifold. I'll see what I can dredge out of the 30 year old memories. I was a smog mechanic in those days, but it's been a long time.

Re: anyone have a 4G/4GC 283/327 rochester carb with A.I.R. 66-67
Here are the pic's. This is not the original carb to the A.I.R. system. That's why I don't know where the signal comes from. I de-veined the pump so the system won't function ( it now has the correct carb and distributer for non smog 327) but the reason I want to know the location is so it looks correct and functionable
