Wow that is nice! A little high IMO based on the negatives provided but still nice.

Re: Craigslist Find in NC - Not Mine But Nice!

I don't know why but I am getting the wolf in sheeps clothing feeling on this one, IT's TOO PRETTY, lol, so I would really look for rust on this baby before dropping THREE AND A HALF LARGE on it, trust me I love these trucks, but it does not look like an honest 40 year old truck, and honest 40 year old truck don't have shinny paint on it like that

so check the usual spots

- floor boards (ask to pull up the floor mat if any don't be shy)

- below the battery in the front passenger side corner where the inner fender meets the radiator support (finding a used inner fender that is not rusted the same way in the same spot is getting harder and harder, you may need after market)

- rockers and under doors

- rear cab corners, pull the seat forward and shove your had in there and feel and poke

- kick panels under dash in front of doors

rusty bed floor don't mean that cancer just stopped there and didn't even try climbing up the bed walls, trust me rust eats everything so if the bed bottom is really bad chances are it started working its way up the sides and the back piece by the cab fer sure

also was it bumped / hit in the front bumper right in the middle there, or is that just an illusion, if so what else is bent under there

sorry to go off on you like this, just had my cup of coffee (strong) and just trying to help,
G

Take a look at the recent threads on bringing the paint back from oxidation without painting. There are some pretty impressive before and after shots.

That being said... Buyer beware. It's not worth $3,500 with a dead engine. If everything else is pristine it's worth $2,000 or a little more.

Re: Craigslist Find in NC - Not Mine But Nice!

Any rust is a turn off for me. I would rather spend $2200 on a solid southwest desert truck and have it hauled to me for another $800. No matter how nice an old truck looks, you will still need to do all of the basic repairs to make it a reliable driver. No matter what you do to a rusty truck, you still have a patched up rusty old truck.
