Sticky accelerator pedal

after letting my truck sit over the winter, the pedal became sticky, you cant smoothly press it, you have to put a lot of pressure on it and then It breaks free, but by the time you realize it the pedals to the metal (literally). im thinking just some wd-40 should fix it but im not sure where I should put it.

Shoot some PB Blaster down the throttle cable, then on the linkage on the carb. Carb cleaner might help too. I had a problem where my pedal would stick on acceleration, shooting PB Blaster helped the most.

The throttle cable is likely binding. Unhook the linkage at the carb. Go inside the truck and move the throttle pedal. It should move freely and very easily. If it doesn't, replace the cable.

Move the linkage on the carb by hand. It should move easily. It should not bind.

Throttle cables are dirt cheap for these trucks. If there's a problem with it, replace it.

I need help with my linkage. I bought a project truck with a new intake and Edelbrock 1406 carb. The PO didn't install any brackets. The throttle cable seem way too long. The TH350 kickdown cable is there with a bracket, but not sure how it mounts or even if the new intake has the correct mounting points.. Can someone post pics of factory set up thats the same as 1978 Chevy with 350/TH350 ....
