Question vibration

Hey guys .. new to this forum hope maybe one of ya has experienced my issue ?
1971 suburban with a bit of front end / maybe even total shake at speed. I do have a bit of freeplay in the power steering to the right, the alignment is set all new ball joints and inner outer tie rods, sway bar bushings and shocks. I have not re balanced the wheels yet. Also note that when I hit a bump straight on the front feels like it shakes side to side my next attack is the control arms lol.

thanks in advance for any ideas you may have

Dave

Re: vibration

A funky tire or unbalanced tire can have a huge impact there.

Re: vibration

A bad shock will do it also.

Re: vibration

Ya I'll balance the tires tomorrow before I leave work tomorrow panhandler62

I already replaced the shocks last week Pgsigns, I think maybe the play in the steering isnt helping even tho it showed corrrect toe when i aligned it maybe I really have the wheels turned a bit when I hit a bump causing the front to shake side to side almost feels as the wheel folds over but the tire pressure is correct.

I appreciate both your response's have a great week ahead

Re: vibration

Well at least you found your issue Zellway glad that fixed it .. mine already has the one with the polly bushing what I have noticed since balancing the wheels is now the shake only happens in the front when I hit any size bump causing the front to shake side to side annoying as all hell. Next thing for me is to swap out the a-arm bushings all the ball joints and tie rods are done

Re: vibration

How is the pitman arm and idler? Cab and core mounts? Kinda pulling at strings now. Keep us posted after the "A" arm stuff is installed.

Re: vibration

Nice looking setup. Post up how much caster they are able to get on the alignment. Be nice to get 4 or 5 degrees in it.
