Crew cab question...

There are no interior light switches on my rear doors. My truck is (was) a bonus cab, it did not come with rear seats, carpet, or seat belts. Is not having interior lights come one when you open the rear doors part of the bonus cab package?

It has more to do with the trim level than the model.
What trim level is yours?

Re: Crew cab question...

No C91. But it does have a dome light and a cargo light, but no switches to turn the lights on when you open the rear doors.

Re: Crew cab question...

My 90 is a silverado. Full load with the exception of vinyl seats (weird). It has a dome and cargo light with the switch above the drivers shoulder. No door switches for the interior light for the rear doors.

Re: Crew cab question...

I currently have 4 crew cabs sitting at my house
1 1988
2 1989's
1 1991
None of them have the switches on the rear doors, and one 89 has a cargo light.
My crew cab short bed didn't have them either, I added them though.
Pretty easy, most auto parts stores carry the switches and you just need a single wire to each switch. The hardest part is running the wires.

Re: Crew cab question...

I've been following this thread with some interest as I have a 1980 Suburban Silverado which does not have rear door switches.

I was out and about today hitting local junk yards, so I made it a point to look for any crew cabs and suburbans to see if any of them had switches. I didn't keep an accurate track as far as years, but we have a wide variety of rigs sitting in two yards, and I checked 8 suburbans and one crew and none of them had rear door interior light switches.

Unless somebody here chimes in and says their all-original one-owner survivor rig has rear door switches, I'm going to assume GM just didn't think they were necessary.

Re: Crew cab question...

I had an 89 parts burb that had rear door light switches. It appeared to be factory wiring...

Re: Crew cab question...

The 2 Suburbans I have owned 1978 and 1990 that I still have has rear switches. This may be limited to Crew Cabs. I have see one with them though, but who knows if it was a Suburban switch.

Re: Crew cab question...

that was irritating for me with my 87 r30 3+3 didn't have the switches open the back door and nothing it really sucks when you got kids putting them in there seat after its dark out. but my 88 v3500 bonus cab has them and it has a cargo light but its also a classy chassis hard telling what they added without looking at rpo's

just wonted to mention some bonus cabs had a tool box option to fill the empty space in the rear where a bench seat would be in a 3+3. i can see average Joe working 9 to 5 construction wouldn't need a dome light it would just run the battery down
