Re: Picked this up today...60 SWB!!!!
My buddy who picked it up for me yesterday called me last night laughing. He said that he had people on the highway giving him the thumbs and and two guys at a gas station said they would buy it...

Getting the AC working on a truck of that vintage would be so cool! Literally.

Yes the '60-'62's have the torsion bar front suspension and the X-member frame. Installing a big block is going to be more of a challenge than if it were a '63+ frame. I'm really not a fan of the '60-'62 frames.

Re: Picked this up today...60 SWB!!!!
John that isn't something I realized when I bought this. So if I wanted to do disk brakes is that possible on this 60? I can put a healthy small block in it. I would like to get it to stop. I think the torsion bars are unhooked because it sits on the ground. Would you unhook them to take out the motor? My buddy who picked it up knows nothing about the front end but says it looks like the bars are disconnected? I know your bracket works for power steering. Maybe if disks are not an option I could just add the dual master cylinder. That way atleast I have some what modern brakes on it.

I had a 62 and currently a 60 both with torsion bars and I like the soft ride! Yes you can buy dropped spindles or regular disc brake spindles for the torsion bars and install a dual mastercylinder. They offer aftermarket on all that.
