Door lock question

1967 c10. The door will not lock when closed, it will lock when open, but unlocks when you close it. Something is hitting that keeps it from toggling when closed.

The (I'll call it a latch assembly) that is on the door that goes into the latch of the cab wiggles a little. The screws are very tight, and the wiggle seems to be unrelated to the tightness of the "latch assembly". From what I can reach from the jamb of the open door (door itself, not the cab). I don't see any adjustment in the "latch assembly" (at least from the outside) or the latch attached to the cab.

I took off the door panel, but it is just about impossible to see what might be the problem.

any ideas of how I can fix this?

That's how the door suppose to work. I think it was so you'll never get locked out.

I found this out a few weeks ago.

have you tried using the key to lock it when it is closed that is after all the way they work

Like stated that's how it works. You can lock it with the key.
Some older GM vehicles you had to hold the door handle button in while you closed it and that kept it locked. I never lock my 67, so I can't remember if it's that way on it or not.

I'm sorry, I was not clear enough. It will not lock when closed, either from the key or the inside.

Have you put new door seals on lately? Try pushing on the door while you turn the key to lock it.

Sometimes you have to push the door in while turning the key.

Does anyone know why it would wobble? The passenger side does not. I think that is the problem. But I have no idea how to fix it, the screws are tight and not moving.
