HELP rear-end ID
I moved my truck, with not fluid in rear end. Can some help me ID it. It have 12 bolts on rear cover, but I am wondering if it is from a 67-72 truck or something else. I has been narrowed and modified externally. I am not sure whats inside, I took some pic of the differential gears.

How do I figure out what gears are in the differential.

An easy way to get a rough idea is to turn a tire 360 degrees and count how many times the gear rotates. That will be your gearing. So 4:11's should turn a little over 4 times for every turn of the tire. Mark the tire and gear with chalk ot masking tape so you know eactly where they start.

Easiest way is too count the ring gear teeth and divide that number by the number of pinion gear teeth. It is easisest since the is no cover on it.

The number of teeth are stamped on the ring gear. No need to count them. Just rotate the ring gear until you see the stampings, sometihg like 41 11 and divide the big number by the little and you will have the gear ratio.
