How hard to find this 70 axle?
I pulled the axle out of my 6 lug 67 today. It has wear where the bearing runs.I thought I had the problem under control because I had a friend that had a couple of used ones.
We compared them and mine was about 3/4" longer.I found the numbers on my rearend TDE 0922W2 and I think it is a 1970.I bought a relocator bearing/seal and I am going to try it.How hard would it be to find a used axle this length?Aint measured it yet but it is about 3/4" longer than the 67 axles. |

Yes, the '70-'72 rears were wider by 3/4" on both sides, 1 1/2 inches overall. The TDE would be a 3.07:1 out of a '70 C-10. LockDoc

Try ROCKAUTO. They probably can do it.

Re: How hard to find this 70 axle?
Should be easy to find a replacement axle I would think. The 4wd's used the 6 lug axle this same width up until they quit using 12 bolt axles. I can't remember what year they switched from 12 bolt to 10 bolt axles, I think it was around 82 or 83.
