how to on drop blocks

i got my 67 short stepper on new POL 4" coil drop springs in the rear with new ECE shock relocators and kyb`s.
I have a feeling im going to need to go 2" lower. rather than swap springs and most likely have 2 different brands i was thinking of doing two inch drop blocks. So how do these install in a coil spring suspension and whered be a good place to buy some ?

They go on top of trailing arms and under the rear end. I usually just make them. Not sure where you can buy them?

Also, another place to check that carries lowering block kits is AVS suspension, they offer them for a great price, I'm looking at getting a set also.

AVS offers a lowering block kit starting at $35.00, but not for all of our trucks apparently. When I emailed AVS about the 1" block kit they said it wouldn't work for my 1972 C10 (coil spring rear) and that I would need a specific set that would work with the trailing arms which would cost $89.95.

The $20 and $30 dollar "kit" don't have the U-bolts with them and are for leaf rear and just have the locating pin not the u-bolt holes like the one should have for the coil trucks. Jim

I went to a spring shop with a stock u-bolt and had them make some longer ones.
.......Cost $30.

Then I got some heavy gauge rectangular steel tubing and drilled out 2 hole's for the u-bolts.
.......Cost $5

Perfect ride height....priceless.

I dont know what size rim/tires your running.
but just be careful of your scrub line. If you get a flat you could be stuck on the road.

That might explain the price difference. The website picture for the "kit" shows two blocks, four U-bolts, and eight nuts. They didn't have a detailed description/information written about the kit, that's why I emailed them to ask before sending them my money. It seemed like a too-good-to-be-true at that price (and it was!)

Yeah, I've been shopping around for a while now comparing prices, not ready to pull the trigger on any parts until I have the time to do the work. I just wanted to post that info I got from the AVS customer service in case it could help anyone.

Ok it won't take that long if you have air tools I did each sides in around half an hour.
Clean the factory U-bolts with wire brush & spray with WD40 heavly especially where the U-bolt goes into the control arm there will be years of rust & mud in there you may also need a BFH.

Never reuse the u-bolts. There are some things you can cheap out on but you really don't want to take a chance with u-bolts and have your axle come out while driving down the highway.

Well for one thing I don't think you can reuse them because I don't think there long enough with the lowering blocks .
Cleaning them with the wire brush is only to make it easy to remove the nuts on the U-bolts.

Yeah I've reused ones that are pretty new but even that is risky. As far as removal I just cut them with my angle grinder with a cutoff wheel. Makes quick work of them.

Yeah you can cut them off and I thought about that but I was glad I didn't on the driver side it was stuck in there pretty bad so I had to beat on the threaded side of the bolts to get it to pop out. (A lot of rust & dirt)
Don't know about using square tubing square tubing is prone to rust on the inside as well as the outside so I don't know how long it will hold up .
Seems it would only be a cave for mud and water?

I primed and painted the tubing first. Mine won't ever see dirt or mud.
